The restaurant Origin from the chefs Fabricio Lemos and Lisiane Arouca in Salvador, was elected as one of the best places to visit in the world by List of The World’s Greatest Places of 2024 published by the American magazine Time this Thursday (25).
The first restaurant opened by the chefs – recognized for their work in rescuing Bahian culture through innovative cuisine and largely responsible for placing the capital of Bahia in important awards –, Origem is the only Brazilian representative on the list that highlights 100 destinations to visit and stay in around the world .
Fabricio Lemos explains that, with a menu concept and management focused on people, they found a way to fight for the strengthening of local culture through gastronomy. “We know that we are outside the Rio-São Paulo axis of gastronomic tourism, and seeing our work highlighted worldwide strengthens us even more, shows us that we are on the right path and opens up possibilities for others from the Northeast to also showcase their culture, their ingredients, their origins”, celebrates the chef.
“After years of hard work, we have managed to make our state and the Brazilian Northeast known. It is an endless joy to be able to put Bahia on the world tourism route”, reinforces chef-pastry Lisiane Arouca.

The OriGem Group currently comprises the following establishments: Origem, Ori, Segreto, Minibar Gem, Megiro, Orí and Fera Rooftop. The chefs are also responsible for the entire gastronomic concept of the Fera Palace Hotel.
To compile the list, Time solicited nominations for places — including hotels, cruises, restaurants, attractions, museums, parks and more — from its international network of correspondents and contributors and, through a nomination process, considered those that offer new and exciting experiences.
