Instituto Unidos Brasil launched a manifesto for tax reform with expansion of payroll tax relief. In an interview with CNN this Saturday (3), the president of the Brazilian Association of Shopkeepers in Shopping Malls (Alshop), Nabil Sahyoun, explained the main points of the manifesto.
According to Sahyoun, the document is intended to provoke society, the government and Congress about the payroll tax exemption.
“The big problem we have today is unemployment. And, for us to be able to employ, we need to relieve the payroll without any harm to workers”, said the president of Alshop.
Sahyoun says that the institute seeks, regardless of who the government is, a commitment to retail guidelines, “especially when we talk about simplifying the tax reform”, he says.
He points out that there are other measures necessary for the institute, such as reducing the “Brazil cost” and improving the business environment. “When you improve the business environment, you generate billions in savings for companies, you can make more investments to accelerate [da economia]. The most important thing today is that we have to accelerate the growth of our GDP,” he said.
The institute’s manifesto was announced on Thursday (1st), in São Paulo, during an event that brought together the Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes, businessmen and representatives of Congress.
According to Sahyoun, both the Jair Bolsonaro government (PL) and former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), who lead the electoral race, have already committed to the exemption of the payroll.
