Retail sales decrease -2% in September compared to -1% expected

Retail sales in the euro area decreased by -2% monthly in September, as data published by Eurostat showed on Thursday. This figure comes after August’s increase of 4.2% (revised from 4.4%) and has turned out worse than the market’s expectation of a -1% drop.

Additional details from the post have revealed that retail sales they increased 2.2% on an annual basis and fell short of analysts’ estimate of 2.8%.
