Retail sales grow 3.6% in March, surpassing the estimated 2.3%

The Canadian retail sales grew for the second month in a row in March, up 3.6%, improving the 2.3% forecast but falling below the 4.8% in February.

Excluding vehicles, retail sales increased 4.3% monthly, exceeding the estimated 2.2%, but moderating from the 4.8% rise in the previous month.

USD / CAD reaction

The USD / CAD fell an hour before the data to 1.2029, its lowest level since May 18.. At time of writing, the pair is trading near these lows, around 1.2038, shedding 0.18% daily.
