The turnover of companies in the retail trade amounted to 14.6 billion euros in the third quarter of this year, recording an increase of 11% compared to the third quarter of 2020, where it had reached 13.2 billion euros. At the same time, it increased by 8.2% compared to the second quarter of 2021, where it had reached 13.5 billion euros.
According to ELSTAT, the activities that showed the largest increase in their turnover are:
-Retail of watches and jewelry in specialized stores (57.1%).
-Retail trade of music and image recordings in specialized stores (49.5%).
While, the activity that showed a decrease is the Retail trade of textiles, clothing and footwear in outdoor stalls and markets (3.9%).
For companies in the retail sector with the obligation to keep bibliographic books, for which data are available on a monthly basis, the turnover in September this year amounted to 2.9 billion euros, an increase of 11.8% compared to September 2020 which was set at 2.6 billion euros. At the same time, there was an increase of 5% compared to August 2021 which had reached 2.7 billion euros.
The activities that showed the largest increase in turnover are:
-Retail of cosmetics and toiletries in specialized stores (59.1%).
-Retail of watches and jewelry in specialized stores (55.9%).
On the other hand, the activities that showed a decrease are:
-Retail trade of textiles in specialized stores (14.6%).
-Retail of books in specialized stores (4.4%).
