One retired civil police officer was killed inside his home in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, in the west zone of Rio de Janeiro, last Friday (29).
Odílio Gomes de Araújo, 63 years old, was robbery victim at his residence in a condominium on Rua Teixeira Heizer. Hours after the death, police located and arrested a man and seized a teenager.
The crime of robbery is the act of robbery followed by homicide and The expected penalty is 20 to 30 years in prison. The crime is considered heinous, characterized as an offense that causes repulsion and is non-bailable.
The Rio de Janeiro Civil Police reported that, immediately after reporting the murder of the retired commissioner, agents began investigations. The investigation indicates that Odílio was attacked and had several of his belongings stolen.
Police found the suspects still with their clothes used in the crime . They were taken to the headquarters of the Capital Homicide Police Station (DHC), where they were caught in the act.
The teams from the Special Crime Scene Group and the Special Unit for Combating Crimes Against Public Agents (Neccap), from DHC, were responsible for the case.
