Retired train driver and known to the authorities, the man who opened fire in Paris – “They see” racist motives

Armed, of French nationality opened fire on the Ahmet Kaya Kurdish cultural center and at a neighboring Kurdish cafe in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, killing three people and injuring three others. The perpetrator was arrested.

The attack took place on rue Angiem, at the height of the Kurdish cultural center, in a commercial area that is the center of Kurdish community life in the French capital.

The Paris prosecutor’s office launched an investigation into “murder, manslaughter and aggravated violence” and the investigations are currently assigned to the 2nd Directorate of the Judicial Police.

“The target was Kurds”said Juan-Golan Elibert, an artist who works at the Kurdish cultural center.

There are many restaurants, bars and shops in and around rue Angien and the sidewalks are usually full of people.

The Ahmet Kaya Center, in honor of the famous Kurdish singer of the same name, is an association (of French law 1901) with the aim of “progressive integration” of the Kurdish population living in France.
