British Prime Minister Kir Starmer announced today that talks were launched on the establishment of “return centers” of asylum seekers outside the United Kingdom, a practice similar to that examined by the European Union. “We are discussing with some countries about these return centers, I find them a real important innovation,” Starmer from Tirana said at a press conference he gave with his Albanian counterpart Edi Rama. The Labor Prime Minister did not give further details on how these “centers” will work, commenting only that the goal is to make the deportations of persons who are not entitled to asylum in Britain more effective.
