Return of super champion Vai-Vai marks the second day of parades at Anhembi

Seven samba schools parade on the second night of the São Paulo Carnival, starting at 10:30 pm this Saturday (23).

As on Friday, the plots are varied, with themes such as social inequality, the trajectory of the singer Clementina de Jesus, ethnic and religious diversity, communication from the beginning to digital influencers and the entity Zé Pilintra, among others.

But the center of attention should be for the exhibition, right at the beginning, of Vai-Vai.

The biggest champion of São Paulo’s carnival, with 15 titles, Vai-Vai will open the second night with the theme “Sankofa!”, inspired by a sacred African bird, related to the teaching that “it is never too late to go back and seek what was lost” ”. The author is the carnival artist Chico Spinoza.

The proposal talks with the trajectory of the school, born in 1930 as a cord and one of the most traditional, which returns after a year in Access I, in which it was crowned champion in 2020 – then there was a stoppage because of the Covid-19 pandemic. 19.

The samba-plot is authored by singer Xande de Pilares and Rodrigo Peu, Claudio Russo, Junior Gigante, Jairo Limozine, Silas Augusto, Zé Paulo Sierra and Bruno Giannelli.

Samba alludes to the trajectory of the school itself, citing historical names such as samba musician Geraldo Filme and Dona Olívia, one of the founders.

“African drum of black bravery / It’s the same drum of Saracura / Quilombo do samba never dies / I’m Vai-Vai.”

Then, at 11:35 pm, Gaviões da Fiel should draw attention with a critical plot, called “Enough!”, about social inequalities. The school has announced that it will defend the values ​​of democracy, equality, sustainability and peace during the parade.

Then, at 0:40 am, it will be the turn of Mocidade Alegre, which took third place in the last carnival. The plot “Quelémentina, where are you?” pays tribute to the singer Clementina de Jesus.

Following, the Golden Eagle will parade from 1:45 am. The plot is aimed at the exaltation of Brazilian ethnic and cultural diversity and against religious intolerance.

Founded in 1976, the school is the current champion of Carnival. The samba-enredo is called “Afoxé de Oxalá – No parade de nabá”, a song of light in times of darkness.

At 2:50 am, it will be the turn of the Barroca Zona Sul, which will address the figure of Zé Pilintra, the bohemian rogue considered as an entity by Brazilian religions of African origin.

The penultimate school to parade is Rosas de Ouro, at 3:55 am, talking about rituals and ways to cure ills.

Finally, Império de Casa Verde will enter at 5 am. The parade will travel from “the dawn of humanity” to digital influencers to talk about “the power of communications”.
