Reuters: Blinken spoke with leaders of Turkey and Greece about how to bring their countries closer

The US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said today that it had spoken with its leaders Greece and her Turkey on how to bring their countries closer, as the agency reports Reuters.

The head of US diplomacy also said that he discussed in Turkey the final steps for Sweden's accession to NATO in the coming weeks.

Referring to the Middle East and the war in Gaza he said: We are mainly focused on preventing the spread of the conflict in Gaza. We are looking at what we can do to maximize the protection of civilians in Gaza. Turkey has prepared to use the relationships it has with critical actors in the region to de-escalate the conflict. We want to make sure that countries in the region use the ties and relationships that they have to make sure that we don't see an escalation.

It is very important that Israelis have security in the northern part of their country. It is clear that Israel does not want an escalation, but it must defend itself, the US Secretary of State stressed.
