Reuters: Greece ready to lift quarantine for travelers from EU and five other countries

Greece plans to lift the quarantine for travelers from the European Union and five other countries, as long as these people have been vaccinated or have negative coronavirus test.

The lifting of the ban is expected to take place next week, according to a government official who spoke to Reuters.

“We will gradually lift the restrictions early next week before the opening on May 14,” a senior tourism ministry official said in a statement.

Last month, according to the post, Greece lifted the mandatory one-week quarantine for Israeli travelers who have had the coronavirus vaccine tested negative.

What are the countries?

According to the official, the citizens of European Union, USA, Britain, Serbia, Israel and United Arab Emirates will be able to travel to Greece through the airports of Athens, Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Chania, Rhodes, Kos, Mykonos, Santorini and Corfu, and two border crossings.

These travelers do not need to be quarantined, as long as they prove that they have received both doses of coronavirus vaccine or it is sufficient to show that they have a negative PCR test performed 72 hours before their arrival. According to the official, tourists will be subject to domestic lockdown restrictions.

According to the rules in force now, all foreigners arriving in Greece must have a negative coronavirus test and be quarantined for 7 days, while passengers from Britain and the United Arab Emirates require a second test upon arrival. .
