“Reveal tea” for the first menstruation goes viral on social media

This time, the goal of holding a “revelation tea” celebration reached a new level on TikTok. It turns out that parents are now holding parties to mark the arrival of their daughters’ first period.

On social media, family members are using #periodparty to publish videos celebrating menarche, known as the first menstrual cycle.

Normally, the events, also called “Festival of the First Moon” – referring to the monthly repetition – are decorated with symbolic representations of the uterus, using shades of red and pink in the decoration, as well as cakes with the words “happy first period”. The purpose is to demystify this important moment in girls’ lives and overcome the stigmas and taboos associated with the normal and cyclical period.

Many young women are even asking their parents to host the party, rather than feeling embarrassed or ashamed.

In a post that went viral on TikTok, with more than 14 million views, you can see a red chocolate fountain and cupcakes shaped like drops of blood. “This is a great way to normalize that having a period is perfectly normal, I just hope you guys asked if she wanted this,” said one user in the comments.

In another video, a girl’s older sister starts the record by buying sanitary pads for her youngest. Moments later, a table with strawberries, juices, apples and even a Barbie doll on top of a red dessert can be seen.
