Revenue pays 1st batch of IR refund this Tuesday; see what to do with the money

The Federal Revenue will release the first batch of Income Tax refund this Tuesday (31). In all, R$ 6.3 billion will be refunded to 3.38 million taxpayers.

The amount received can encourage the taxpayer to consume or travel, but experts interviewed by the CNN Brasil Business stated that, in the first place, the recommended thing is to pay off that debt that is putting pressure on the personal budget.

Dionatan Severo, investment business manager at Sicredi, suggests that the worker have a financial plan and identify if there are loans, slips, credit card bills and overdue bills that accumulate interest. “Because, with the money in hand, it increases the power of negotiation with creditors”.

A survey by the National Confederation of Commerce in Goods, Services and Tourism (CNC) pointed out that Brazil has the highest percentage of indebted families (77.7%) since the beginning of the historical series, in January 2010.

On the other hand, Camilla Dolle, head of fixed income research at XP, recommends that if a person is in debt, but interest is below 13% – a percentage close to the basic interest rate (12.75%) -, “at Sometimes it makes sense to continue with the debt and allocate the money to the Selic Treasury, to receive some return and pay off the debt over time”.

In any case, the expert pointed out that most debts have rates above the Selic rate.

After paying the overdue bills and having some money left over, Camilla points out that creating an emergency reserve should be the Brazilian’s second priority. And the amount saved must represent six to 12 months of your basic expenses, such as rent, condominium, financing, food and consumption bills.

Maitê Kattar, partner and head of products at Monte Bravo Investimentos, points out that, after saving money and paying off debts, it is important to invest the remaining resource. And, with the current economic scenario, she suggests assets linked to inflation.

“If the investor does not have expensive debts to pay off, the ideal is to invest 100% of the resource in new investments, since future dividends have the potential to add extra income”.

Severo, from Sicredi, suggests another option for using the refund: investment in a course, training for professional qualification or personal development.

“But always observing the indication of first keeping the accounts up to date and [ter] some value in investments”.

other lots

The 2022 Income Tax lots will be released until September 30, 2022. Thus, the Monte Bravo Investimentos partner indicates that, regardless of the economic scenario, investors should opt for a “very” diversified portfolio.

“In addition, in Brazil, the scenario changes very quickly, so the ideal is to evaluate the allocation of the portfolio at the time of receipt of the resource”, says Kattar.

In turn, Severo believes that the important thing is for investors to know their profile in the stock market. For conservatives (those who consider security a decisive point), he recommends allocating in fixed income products, especially LCA (Letter of Credit for Agribusiness).

“These products have an attractive return and are safe alternatives for moments of market instability”.

For investors with a moderate profile (where safety is important, but they are willing to take some risk), the specialist suggested a balanced portfolio of low, medium and high risk products, composed of indexed fixed income funds, multimarket and stocks. .

And for the bold profile (the one who takes on more risk in favor of expressive returns in the long term), the manager of Sincredi indicates maintaining the participation of medium and high risk assets that make up the portfolio.
