British fintech company Revolut has announced that it is suspending its cryptocurrency services in the US effective September 2, 2023.

All US crypto clients of the company have already received an email from Revolut:

“We regret to announce that we are closing our cryptocurrency platform in the US.”

Starting September 2, US customers will no longer be able to place orders to buy cryptocurrencies on the Revolut platform.

“Revolut is actively looking into alternative ways to provide access to crypto products, and we hope to offer them again to US customers in the future,” the official statement reads.

The decision was influenced by the changing regulatory framework and the uncertainty around the cryptocurrency market in the United States, company representatives explained.

“This decision has not been easy, and we understand the frustration it can cause,” the company said.

At the end of June, Revolut announced the delisting of three popular cryptocurrencies on the American platform: ADA, MATIC and SOL. Although the company did not provide a specific reason for the delisting, a direct link can be traced to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) legal battle against Coinbase and Binance. Recall that the SEC in both cases calls ADA, MATIC and SOL securities.
