The Chester County District Attorney’s Office, in Pennsylvania, in the United States, increased, this Monday (11), to US$ 25 thousand (R$ 123.2 thousand at the current exchange rate), the reward for information leading to even Danilo Cavalcante, a Brazilian who escaped from a prison in the locality, on August 31st.
On September 7, the reward had increased to US$20,000 (R$99,500). Initially, the value was US$10 thousand (R$49.7 thousand).
According to the county government, at the time, he escaped in the morning, wearing a white shirt, gray shorts and white sneakers.
The city’s Public Prosecutor’s Office defined Danilo as “an extremely dangerous man”.
On Saturday (9), according to the state police, the fugitive “changed his appearance”.
“He is now clean-shaven and wearing a yellow or green hooded sweatshirt, black baseball cap, green prison pants and white shoes,” Pennsylvania State Police said in a statement Sunday morning.
Sister arrested
The Pennsylvania State Police arrested Danilo Calvancante’s sister at US Customs last Sunday.
The information was confirmed during a press conference by Lieutenant Colonel George Bivens.
While not providing details of the arrest, Bivens said authorities “take steps to try to minimize or eliminate” any help the inmate may receive.
Asked whether Cavalcante’s attempts to contact former acquaintances indicated a desire for support, Bivens stated that “he is absolutely looking for support. He needs that support. He doesn’t have that.”
The condemnation
Danilo Cavalcante was sentenced to life in prison without parole on August 16, for first-degree murder in the 2021 murder of his ex-girlfriend.
He is also wanted in a 2017 homicide case in Brazil that caused him to flee the country, said Robert Clark, deputy supervisor of the U.S. Marshals Service.
