The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, has stated that the health passport or digital certificate may be available in May.
This was stated in the Antena 3 program ‘Espejo Pablico’, where he stated that “the Government works to be pioneers and have the health passport as soon as possible. “The holder of the tourism portfolio has stressed that the health passport will allow a “safe mobility” to people who have passed the coronavirus. This, added to the people who can travel with PCR, means that “there are instruments to be able to move that not only imply that one is vaccinated”.
Optimism for the next few months
Currently, there are 4.8 million Spaniards vaccinated with the first dose and 1.4 million with the full dose of the coronavirus vaccine. In addition, the minister has confirmed that this week approves Janssen vaccine and there are 5 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine purchased, which will arrive in April. Therefore, Maroto trusts that the 30% and 40% of the population is vaccinated in the month of April, thanks to the four types of authorized vaccines.
Regarding Imserso’s trips, Maroto has advanced that the Government intends to accelerate the administrative process in order to anticipate the reopening of these trips in summer. “We are working to be able to have the program ready and it would be very important to be able to advance it. If the conditions are met, it is possible,” he added.
FITUR Y Mobile World Congress
As for Fitur and Mobile World Congress, Maroto has indicated that they will be held in a different way, combining a digital and face-to-face fair. “The most important thing is to celebrate these events, because they represent the restart of a sector, congress tourism,” he stressed.
