An important nose, with bumps or not quite straight, can be a considerable aesthetic concern for some. After all, the nose strongly characterizes the aesthetics of the face and when it doesn’t like it, it can cause real complexes.
Then there are also those who, on the contrary, have made their main nose their characterizing and distinctive trait, and have never even considered the idea of changing it.
Just think of Barbra Streisand or Sarah Jessica Parkerbut also the Italian actress Sabrina Impacciatore oa Rossy De Palmaone of the most famous inspiring muses of Pedro Almodovar.
Rossy De Palma
Daniele VenturelliNot a few, then, the cases of those who have done it again but repented, like the supermodel Bella Hadid which he recently admitted in an interview with Vogue of having retouched his nose at 14. And he also stated that if he came back, he wouldn’t do it again.
Among the happy and satisfied, however, the supermodel, actress and TV personality Tyra Banks, that a few years ago at the magazine People he had declared about the intervention: “Everyone should have the opportunity to do it.”
In short, deciding whether or not to intervene on the nose is a decision that is anything but trivial or simple also because, in the wrong hands, you can risk compromise the aesthetics of the entire face and sometimes also the respiratory function.
Nose surgery: rhinoplasty or rhinofiller?
Then there is another element to consider when deciding to intervene on the nose: to proceed with a rhinoplasty or limit yourself to rhinofiller?
To understand the differences between these two interventions – the first of surgery and therefore more invasive and the second of aesthetic medicine and faster and more painless – we consulted the doctor Annalisa PizzettiSurgeon Specialized in Dermatology.
Doctor, there is a lot of talk about rhinofiller as an alternative to rhinoplasty, can it be considered as such?
“In fact, it is a procedure that has seen a surge in requests precisely because it is read as a less invasive alternative and with immediate recovery times. In selected cases, in fact, it is, since it is able to correct aquiline noses, with slight hump and particular shapes of noses, such as those that are too saddled or with curved tips ».
What does the rhinofiller consist of?
«With the word filler we mean a substance (the literal translation is filler) biocompatible (in the vast majority of cases hyaluronic acid) which, injected under the skin, make corrections. In this specific case, injected into specific points, it manages to correct and align an irregularly shaped nose ».
How is the treatment carried out?
“The treatment it takes place in the clinic and takes about forty minutes. Before proceeding, a careful evaluation of the patients and a study of the shape of the nose are essential, also through the support of photographs in lateral projection. Then we proceed to infiltrate the filler usually in the upper central part as to create a straight line that goes from the root (in the middle of the eyebrows) to the tip. Often a second step it is made to inject the filler under the tip and thus create lifting of the tip. Very little product is injected at a time and modeled with a light massage. Gradually the nose takes shape and aligns and raises, the shape harmonizes in the doctor’s hands and the patient can see the result immediately afterwards ».
What aspects to consider before undergoing the rhinofiller?
“This is not a definitive treatment, or rather, the substance has a slow reabsorption. In my protocol I have patients treated four years ago who have performed, every 5/6 months, a series of small adjustments until the result is stable ».
When should you opt for rhinoplasty instead?
“Being a correction that injects into the sloping or irregular points of the line of the nose, it is not indicated in cases where there is a very prominent nasal bone, or when the tip of the nose is wide or the nostrils pronounced. In these cases, surgery is needed to demolish an important nasal bone, narrow the cartilage part of the tip or the long nostrils ».
What are the main differences between the two?
«The rhinofiller does not include an operating room and general anesthesia it is performed with anesthetic ointment or local anesthesia in the doctor’s office and normal life can be resumed immediately. Rhinoplasty, on the other hand, is a real surgery, under total anesthesia, and recovery times in the post-operative period are 15/20 days, but sometimes they are needed up to two months to see the final and definitive result ».
Indicatively how much do a rhinofiller surgery and a rhinoplasty cost?
«The rhinofiller has an indicative cost that goes from 400 to 600 euroswhile rhinoplasty costs come on 5,000 to 8,000 euros approximately“.
Are there any contraindications for the rhinofiller? What about rhinoplasty?
«The rhinofiller, like all medical-aesthetic injection therapies, should be avoided in case of state of pregnancy, lactation and blood clotting diseases; however, it is a complex procedure that must be performed by experienced doctors as the anatomical area treated is rich in blood vessels. For rhinoplasty, in addition to the contraindications indicated for the rhinofiller, it must be given extreme attention in choosing the surgeon as the damage that can follow can be aesthetic or functional and permanent “.
