Richard Branson will add one more hotel to its select collection of luxury properties, the Virgin Limited Edition. But this time, he went far and found his new acquisition in a historic 15th century Quinta in Mallorca, Spain.
THE Son Bunyola Hotel It will have just 28 rooms and is part of a retrofit of this property with the air of a medieval castle, in a place surrounded by vineyards, citrus, almond and olive trees in the Tramuntana mountain, a region considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The opening is scheduled for the summer of 2023.
The hotel will integrate an 810-acre property, where Branson’s three independent villas are already located, which can be rented individually, with or without a hotel structure, such as concierge and meals.
In order not to lose the history of the place, the hotel will maintain all the original features of the Quinta, in a reconstruction project that will prioritize existing buildings and structures, combining a new design with elements such as wooden carpentry, stone or wrought iron arches. , typical of the time.
In addition to the central house, the Tafona, the environment where the oil mill operated, will be used. In all, in addition to the 28 rooms, there will be two restaurants, lounges, and large terraces overlooking the Mediterranean – one of the landscapes promises to be Mallorca’s famous Foradada.

THE hotel hot water will be preheated with energy collected from the air conditioning and refrigeration systems; while the installation of a biomass boiler will be powered by recycled wood chips.
Water is also being collected and reused for irrigation, and the addition of a system will be introduced throughout the hotel to monitor and control lighting, air conditioning and energy consumption.
