“Rick and Morty”: anime gets teaser and season 8 should arrive in 2025

Fans of “Rick and Morty” will have to wait until 2025 for the eighth season of the series, but the spin-off “Rick and Morty: The Anime” should arrive later this year.

Due to the Hollywood writers' strike last year, production was delayed and the series — which usually releases episodes of new seasons every year — is not expected to release any episodes in 2024, according to the The Hollywood Reporter.

The seventh season has been available on HBO Max since October 2023.

The spin-off “Rick and Morty: The Anime” premieres in 2024. And a new teaser was released this Monday (22).

The spin-off with a Japanese animation style is directed by Takashi Sano, and should feature an original story. The first season will have 10 episodes and is produced by Telecom Animation Film.

At San Diego Comic Con, a few months ago, the first teaser for the spin-off had already been released.

In January 2023, one of the creators and original voice actor of the two main characters in the animation, Justin Roiland, was fired from the Adult Swim channel, responsible for the series. Roiland faces criminal charges of domestic violence in US courts.

The seventh season featured two new voice actors in the original: Ian Cardoni (voicing Rick) and Harry Belden (voicing Morty).
