The renowned Brazilian music producer Rick Bonadio 55, reacted to an album by K-pop specifically to “Layover”, his first solo work V member of the group BTS . In a video for CNN Pop, Bonadio shared his impressions of the album.
Upon opening the physical album, Bonadio spoke about the visual presentation: “I already liked the box, super cool. This starts by saying that it is a recording with investment.”
“I’m sure the kids will think it’s really cute”, he said. “But it’s really cool, it reminds me of when I got a project like this from Pink Floyd.”
Regarding the musical aspect, the producer praised V’s voice: “Good, him. It’s a bit Chris Brown, like that, right? (…) He mixes Korean with English, right? Interesting”.
“He must like Britney Spears, Madonna”, he continued, when talking about the singer’s pop vocals.
Furthermore, the producer highlighted similarities with Michael Jackson: “I think these pop videos are very inspired by Michael, right? It has a lot to do with Michael Jackson, the clothes, the sparkles, the way he sings too.”
“I thought the clip was well produced, like a Hollywood production,” he continued. “Music is highly valued in K-pop and that, for me, is worth the project.”
