Right -wing leader Wilders left the government coalition in the Netherlands – a high probability of new elections

The leader of the Dutch far -right, Geert Wilders, has decided to leave the government coalition because of his disagreements over immigration policy, the NOS Dutch network reported today. Wilders had threatened yesterday, Monday, that he would withdraw his party, PVV (Freedom Party), from the government coalition, if his partners do not support his plans to tighten politics to immigrants and asylum seekers. PVV is the largest party in the Dutch parliament and its departure from the government coalition will probably lead to the collapse of the government and possibly new elections. “The situation is not good,” Vilders said last night, after extraordinary talks, which he described as “unpleasant”. The leaders of the four parties of the government coalition were expected to repeat their consultations this morning.
