The actress Riley Keough protagonist of the series “Daisy Jones & The Six” and granddaughter of Elvis Presley, officially became the owner of the Graceland ranch, after a short legal battle with her grandmother, Priscilla Presley.
Riley, 34, Lisa Marie’s eldest daughter with Danny Keough, has been named sole trustee of her late mother’s estate, Deadline reported.
The nomination was approved during a hearing held last Friday (4) before Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Lynn Healey Scaduto.
According to the vehicle, in addition to being the new owner of the old house of the king of rock, she will also preside over the funds of her half-sisters, the twins Harper and Finley Lockwood.
The actress reached an agreement with her grandmother Priscilla that, from now on, she will be “special adviser to the fund” and will also receive a monthly payment. Priscilla will also be able to be buried at Graceland when she dies.
The amendment removes Priscilla and Elvis’ daughter’s former business manager, Barry Siegel, as co-managers and replaces them with Lisa Marie’s eldest children, Riley and Benjamin Keough. The latter passed away in 2020.
understand the case
Shortly after Lisa Marie’s sudden death in January of this year, her mother and Elvis’ ex-wife filed court documents contesting a 2016 amendment to the Promenade fund, allegedly authorized by her daughter, which removed Priscilla and the former business manager from family, Barry Siegel, as trustees.
The amendment also designated brothers Riley and Benjamin Keough as co-trustees in the case of Lisa Marie’s death – Benjamin died in 2020 at age 27.
At the time, Priscilla’s lawyers argued that the amendment was invalid, saying it was never given to her while Lisa Marie was alive, as required by the language of the trust.
Court documents also alleged that the amendment was potentially fraudulent, stating that Lisa Marie’s signature was “inconsistent” with her usual handwriting. In the current fight, Priscilla asks the court to recognize her as a trustee.
In a hearing held in May this year, lawyers for the actress and Elvis’ ex-wife announced that the parties reached an agreement, but did not describe it publicly.
