Rio and SP appear among the 10 best cities in Central and South America

Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo are among the top ten cities in the Central and South America in 2022, according to the magazine’s annual ranking “Travel + Leisure” .

The publication cited “the vibrant nightlife of Copacabana” as one of the attractions of the Marvelous City, which appears in third place on the list, as well as “the music, food and elegant neighborhoods by the sea, such as Leblon and Ipanema”, that “attract all the applause of the travelers who visit it”.

The capital of São Paulo, on the other hand, rose from 10th place in 2021 to 4th place this year, all thanks to the “collection of architectural wonders and the recent openings of luxury hotels”.

Every year, the magazine conducts the survey World’s Best Awards asking its readers to rate their experiences around the world according to their experiences in cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines and other categories.

To classify cities, it is necessary to evaluate tourist attractions, culture, cuisine, friendliness, shopping.

In first place in 2022, appears the city of Cusco in Peru destination cited as “must see” for anyone who wants to visit South America and Machu Picchu.

They also highlighted the indigenous culture, landscapes and local cuisine – as well as classes at ChocoMuseo, a traditional chocolate museum.

Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo were also featured in the recent list of the magazine “Time Out”, which released the 53 best cities in the world to visit in 2022. In this ranking, São Paulo appears in 37th place and Rio in 48th. From South America, Medellin, Colombia, appears in third position, right after Edinburgh (1st) and Chicago (2nd).
