This Wednesday (8), the Official Gazette of the municipality of Rio de Janeiro published the approval of the electronic auction for the choice of the company that will carry out the fireworks show at Flamengo beach, in the south of Rio de Janeiro. The city will spend R$413,000 to hire the company Inside Fx, which had already provided the service in 2019, to return to the ferries that set off fireworks on the beach.
However, so far there is no confirmation whether the show in the sky will happen or not. Even without live shows, the mayor and governor defend the performance of the show, but the hammer has not yet been hit.
Flávio Ribeiro Ferreira, owner of Inside Fx, anxiously awaits the definition of the service. “Me, my entire company, my family, my suppliers, everyone. Have you ever imagined the damage that this is?”, he said in an interview with CNN.
He says that the expectation was, at this time of year, to have the contract signed, but he has not yet received a call from the municipal authorities to give the final signature on the papers. While he waits, he fears what he might lose by canceling the party.
“Have you ever seen a dog looking at a chicken tree, running around that little roast chicken? It’s the same thing. We have nothing to do, it’s just sit back and suffer the loss, because after we won the public notice, we start to assemble everything. […] After you do that, chipping was all, because while the pumps are in place, you can still keep it for another two, five years depending on the product. After you transfer it to the tubes, you have to disassemble it and you lose this material, it causes a loss”, vents the businessman.
During the pandemic, Ferreira saw the 26-year-old company need to stop operating, with the interruption of services, and started working as a cook. Inside Fx is located in the city of Campos dos Goytacazes, in the interior of the state. This New Year’s Eve is trying to recoup losses with contracts with city halls and private parties.
The company had already made the fireworks presentation in 2019. For that year, if the return of the fireworks is authorized, the intention is to match the mark of the year before last, with a 14-minute show.
“We changed, we brought many different bombs, bombs with many effects, bombs that go up making trails, bombs that when they go up explode several colors at the same time. There are three rafts, one in the center will have more angle than the others to cross bombs”, he says.
In addition to Flamengo beach, the city of Rio de Janeiro also foresees fireworks at the Igreja da Penha and Copacabana beach. In the case of Penha, the authorization for the electronic auction was published in the city’s official gazette in early December.
The Copacabana fireworks, on the other hand, defend a definition of the bidding made for the entire Carnival package and which, as shown by CNN, can be canceled after the difficulty to get sponsors.
