Rio Coffee Nation, the largest meeting of specialty and organic coffees in Brazil, takes place from October 20th to 22nd

The 4th edition of Rio Coffee Nation happens in Rio de Janeiro on the 20th, 21st and 22nd of October, in a new location, in Mauá Pier .

Commanded by Martina Barth d’Avila , creator of Rio Coffee Nation and owner of the corporate events agency Sonimage, exclusive official producer of Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants 2023 , O event brings together more than 50 producers from different regions of the country with the aim of stimulating the professionalization and culture of this market, in addition to supporting, promoting and helping family farming, uniting experts for drink lovers.

The importance of sustainability, fair trade, tourism, coffee shops, Brazilian know-how in planting and roasting, extraction methods (soft, espresso, filtered…) and tastings will be the focus of the event.

With double the space compared to other years, Rio Coffee Nation will have a large internal area with modules and two islands with 30 individual counters each, competition and course rooms, Coffee talks auditorium, Cupping laboratory (coffee tasting) in partnership with Minas Gerais and support cup.

Outside, with a stage, foodtrucks, a square with tables and benches and, to brighten up, a breathtaking view, with Guanabara Bay and the Museum of Tomorrow completing the scene.

The 4th edition of the meeting comes with new features: new courses, workshops with certificates and an unprecedented competition for the best barista in Rio Coffee Nation.

For those who like music, the program will also include a Happy Hour with live Bossa Nova, on the 20th and 21st of October, complete with coffee drinks. Furthermore, some distinguished guests will be present such as Veda Viraswami, director and roasting chef of Le Café Alain Ducasse; the French mixology champion, Carlos José Alves Ramos – Champion de France Coffee in Good Spitits 2018, who will present cocktail recipes with the drink on stage and Mohamed, Le Meilleur Pâtissier: French pastry chef who will give a 1h30 hour workshop for a Cookie coffee and hazelnut giant.

Rio Coffee Nation 2023 will feature:

  • Coffee Talks: auditorium with lectures and workshops;
  • Coffee Experience Stage: presentations by baristas and chefs, with many recipes and preparation methods;
  • Atelier Coffee Lovers: guided coffee tasting classes and recipes (subscription required, limited places);
  • Caffeinated Workshops: professional courses and workshops, with certificates in partnership with SEBRAE, ABIC AND SENAC (subscription required, limited places);
  • Espresso: 4th “Best Roasted Coffee for Espresso” Competition;
  • Warehouse: store with branded products such as cups, aprons, t-shirts, cookies and utensils;
  • Slow: food and picnic court, with food trucks and happy hour with live music;
  • Happy hour at the café, with live Brazilian music with Mauricio Pessoa and Rodrigo Sha.
