Rio court accepts complaint and orders preventive detention of three accused for the murder of a lawyer

The Rio de Janeiro Court accepted, this Monday (29), the complaint against three men for murder of lawyer Rodrigo Marinho Crespo which was 42 years old, took place in the center of the capital of Rio.

Judge Cariel Bezerra Patriota, of the III Jury Court of the Capital, also ordered the preventive detention of the accused and the removal of one of them, who is a military police officer, from his public duties.

The defendants, PM Leandro Machado da Silva, Cezar Daniel Mondêgo de Souza and Eduardo Sobreira de Moraes, are accused of direct involvement in the crime, which was planned and executed with 21 shots, on February 26, in a busy area close to to important institutional bodies.

According to information from the Public Ministry's complaint, the crime was motivated by the victim's professional performance, which was disturbing a criminal organization linked to online gambling.

Security camera footage recorded the moment in which the killer, who would be the fourth person involved in the crime, got out of the back seat of a vehicle and shot the victim several times.

The investigations indicate that the execution of the crime was intended to send a message to competitors and the Democratic State of Law itself, pointing out a possible infiltration of the criminal organization in the state.

In addition to the arrest warrant, the judge emphasized the seriousness of the crime, highlighting the need for arrests to ensure the application of criminal law, prevent defendants from escaping and preserve public order.

The Civil Police, through the Capital Homicide Police Station, continues with investigations to identify and hold others involved in the case responsible.
