At least 20 people, including a police officer, were killed today Thursday (6/5) in Rio de Janeiro in a police operation.
According to Reuters, shots were fired during a police operation against drug dealers in the Jacarezinho favela in Rio de Janeiro.
Two subway passengers were also injured during the shooting.
According to a police statement, the operation was carried out in a favela in the northern zone of Rio, against a group of criminals, who were considered responsible for drug trafficking, homicide, hostage-taking on trains, attacks on pedestrians and even the recruitment of children.

This favela is considered one of the control zones of one of the largest groups of drug dealers in Brazil.
