Rio de Janeiro is already in a carnival atmosphere. The streets of Rio were filled with glitter, costumes and glitter last weekend during pre-Carnival. For the festivities, the city hall expects five million revelers in the street Carnival. In total, the city should receive an audience of seven million people.
The initial forecast is that 453 street block parades will be held, but this number could still change. In 2024, 698 blocks signed up asking for authorization to parade, surpassing the 2023 mark, with 613 requests. Now, it depends on authorizations from public bodies. In 2023, 456 blocks were added to Rio's streets.
According to Riotur, the Tourism Company of the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro, the blocks have been on the streets since January 20th and should remain until February 18th, marking almost a month of festivities.
The company believes that Carnival will generate 50 thousand direct jobs. From street vendors alone, there are 15 thousand people registered for the street Carnival and parades in SapucaÃ.
