Rio de Janeiro: family denies that businessman who fell from building was sleepwalking

The mother of Alexandre Perrout Rodrigues da Silva, who died after falling from a building in Laranjeiras, in the south of Rio de Janeiro, denies that her son was a sleepwalker.

“To say that my son was a sleepwalker, that he had a psychotic break, is a lie. I don't believe. He was being monitored by an online psychologist but had no mental problems,” he told CNN Emília Perrout da Silva, 71 years old. She also said that the businessman, who previously worked as a financial analyst, was not a drug user and only drank socially.

The Catete police station (9th DP) opened an investigation to investigate the death of the businessman, buried on Saturday (2), at the São João Batista Cemetery, in Botafogo, in the south zone of Rio.

Witnesses told the family that the victim had gone out to dinner on Friday (1st) with his girlfriend and that the couple returned to the young woman's house around midnight. Alexandre would have fallen from the sixth floor shortly afterwards.

Alexandre had been dating Letícia Fagundes Netto since 2016. She should be heard by investigators in the coming days, as well as family members. The Police also reported that they are taking steps to understand what happened in the apartment.

“I have no idea what could have happened. But what I need to know is whether it was an accident or not”, said Dona Emília to CNN .
