A major fire hit, this Monday (31), the Rio de Janeiro Distribution Center (Ceasa-RJ), located in the North Zone of the state capital. Images obtained by CNN show the beginning of rioting and looting of the city’s main food distribution center during the incident.
At least 13 fire departments were called to respond to the incident. In all, 16 vehicles of the firefighting institution are operating at the site. THE CNN, the corporation stated that approximately 50 agents work at the site, and that the fire in the region has not yet been fully controlled.
Military police officers from the 41st BPM (Irajá) Battalion of Special Rounds and Crowd Control (RECOM) were deployed to reinforce policing at the scene, in order to prevent possible further looting of the establishment.
