From September to January, renowned Japanese cuisine chefs occupy the pop-up restaurant Om.akase on the top floor of the Rio boutique hotel Janeiro, for a series of very special dinners that welcome just eight people at a time.
With stunning views of the Marvelous City, Om.akase begins its second season on the 19th, 20th and 21st of September with André Saburó from the restaurant Quina do Futuro . On the 19th, 20th and 21st of October it is time to Jun Sakamoto at the head of the restaurant that bears his name in São Paulo, showcase his precise cuts and delicate sushi.
The chef Kazuo Harada from the restaurant Kazuo arrives in Rio to sign the experience on the 18th, 19th and 20th of November. The young chef Toshi Kawanami of Yunagi Edomae-Zushi from São Paulo runs the counter on the nights of December 7th, 8th and 9th. In the first month of 2024, the chef Anderson Haruo of Oue Sushi de Alphaville runs the dinners on the 11th, 12th and 13th of January, and Telma Shiraishi from the restaurant Aizomê closes the program on the nights of the 25th, 26th and 27th.
Reservations are made in advance through the pop-up website omakase.janeiro.rio. The gastronomic works will be served on ceramic pieces created and selected by Japanese artist Hideko Honma. The experience costs R$760 per person and includes an original menu at various times. The Om.akase project combines art, gastronomy and pleasure around Japan, which has its gastronomy and culture very well represented in Brazil.
