Rio de Janeiro governor dismisses Ceperj Foundation president

The governor of Rio de Janeiro, Cláudio Castro (PL), announced, this Thursday (4), the replacement of the president of the Ceperj Foundation, in an investigation for lack of transparency in payments to servers.

The agency spent R$ 288 million on payments to servers.

“Today, we announce the replacement of the current president of Ceperj, as well as the immediate proposal of a TAC (Term of Adjustment of Conduct) with the state MP to correct directions and not harm important social programs”, Castro published.

The announcement was made by the governor, through Twitter, on Thursday night. Cláudio Castro stated that he also proposed a term of adjustment of conduct with the State Public Ministry.

The MP asked for access to internal and external images of bank branches between March and July of this year. This is because Ceperj issued, in 2022 alone, more than 90 thousand payment orders for more than 27 thousand individuals who received payment at the cashier.

The MP determined a period of 20 days to receive the images.

“I guided us to give full transparency to the information, because, after all, as governor, I am the most interested in everything being clarified as soon as possible”, said the governor.

On Wednesday (3), the Court of Justice of Rio de Janeiro (TJ-RJ) ordered the Ceperj Foundation and the state government to immediately suspend new hires and/or remuneration of temporary or fixed-term employees without transparency criterion.

The Rio judiciary decided that Ceperj and the Rio de Janeiro government will only be able to hire new employees with due prior disclosure of the payroll of the workforce linked to each project, indicating the name, CPF and the role performed by each professional.

Ceperj works in the execution of projects related to the core activity of other bodies of the Direct and Indirect Public Administration of the state of Rio de Janeiro, through the execution of cooperation agreements, in addition to supplying labor hired for a determined period of time to various state bodies, through direct contracting (RPA).
