Rio de Janeiro hosts special dinners with chefs from the 50 Best Restaurants ranking

On November 28th, the awards ceremony will take place Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants in Rio de Janeiro. The city will welcome a delegation of cooks, journalists and lovers of the art of eating well to watch the great “Oscar” of gastronomy up close.

Therefore, during the week of the event, between November 25th (Saturday) and November 29th (Wednesday), renowned restaurants in the city will serve exclusive dinners that celebrate diversity and partnership in the world of gastronomy, with an exchange of chefs who make part of the select ranking of Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants.

Naturalie Bistrô x El Chato x Nelita

When: dinner, Saturday, November 25th

Where: Rua Visconde de Caravelas, 5, Botafogo

Naturalie Bistro

Who: Brazilian chef Nathalie Passos, who opened vegetarian restaurant Naturalie Bistrô at the age of 22, will combine her vegetable skills with those of two visiting chefs. The first is Alvaro Clavijo, from Bogotá, whose modern Colombian restaurant El Chato is gaining more and more recognition: it was chosen as The Best Restaurant in Colombia in 2022, and reached position no.33 in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2023 ranking. Nathalie will also be accompanied in the kitchen by Tássia Magalhães, another promising Brazilian chef who is the talent behind the refined Italian-inspired restaurant Nelita, in São Paulo, which debuted at position no.39 on the list of Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022.

Additional Information: the three talented chefs will serve an exclusive vegetarian menu that will maximize the flavor of each ingredient. Those who wish can try drinks from Andre Blanco, from El Chato, or opt for the wine service offered by Nelita.

Oteque x Kjolle x Kol

Alberto Landgraf

Who: Alberto Landgraf, from the Oteque restaurant, ranked no.12 in Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022, and winner of the Gin Mare Art of Hospitality Award, will welcome chef Pía León, from Kjolle, in Lima, and Santiago Lastra, from Kol, in London (No.23 in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2023). León was named The World’s Best Female Chef in 2022, and is one half of the team behind Central, which achieved the prestigious no.1 on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2023 list.

Additional Information: Created by the trio, the tasting menu will follow the host’s principles: it will feature fish and seafood dishes prepared with excellence and modernity. The seven-course meal will begin with a selection of Oteque’s finest appetizers, followed by dishes from Pía. Among them, fresh raw fish with citrus cocoa emulsion, heart of palm salad, sweet bread and sea urchin. Lastra will contribute shrimp tacos with smoked chili and orange kinkan, as well as beetroot mole with duck fat, açaí and koji.

Lasai x Mugaritz x Boragó

Rafa Costa e Silva, from Lassai

Who: Rafa Costa e Silva, chef-owner of Lasai (No.20 in Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022), joins Spanish chef Andoni Luis Aduriz, from Mugaritz, in San Sebastian (No.31 in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2023 and Icon Award 2023 – World) and the Chilean Rodolfo Guzmán, from Boragó, in Santiago (No.10 in Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022).

Additional Information: The dinner will be a celebration of the chefs’ enduring friendship and their shared admiration for Basque cuisine. Each cook will sign dishes that make up a sensational tasting menu.

Sud, The Green Bird x A Casa do Porco x Narda Comedor

Roberta Sud

Who: the exclusive dinner will bring together three winners of the Latin America’s Best Female Chef award. Host Roberta Sudbrack, chef-owner of Sud, O Pássaro Verde, will share the kitchen with Narda Lepes, from Narda Comedor, in Buenos Aires (2020), and with the recently crowned best female chef in Latin America Janaína Torres Rueda (2023 ), from A Casa do Porco, in São Paulo.

Additional Information: with the aim of celebrating female culinary talent, the six-course menu created by the trio will follow the philosophy of Sud, O Pássaro Verde: light, fun and no-compromise food. In this experience full of freshness, joy and flavor, diners will have the opportunity to taste organic ingredients from small producers prepared using traditional culinary techniques, such as in a clay oven.
