The Rio de Janeiro Civil Police launched, in the early hours of Thursday (8), Operation Athos, with the objective of serving seven arrest warrants against members of the two main criminal factions of Rio.
The action was coordinated by the head of the 110th DP (Teresópolis), Dr. Márcio Dubugras, and the deputy delegate, Dr. Guilherme Ferrit, together with agents of the GAP (Police Support Group) of the 4th Public Prosecution Service of the Public Prosecution Service.
During the offensive, five people were caught in the act, totaling ten arrests so far. Targets are accused of involvement in a series of drug trafficking crimes, including murders and attempted murder arising from a violent territorial dispute Between the Faults Red Command (CV) and Third Pure Command (TCP).
Investigations conducted by the 110th DP indicate that a war between the criminal groups has intensified since the end of 2024. In one of the most brutal episodes on February 20 this year, CV -linked traffickers argued in the Meudom neighborhood to punish a man accused of faction change.
The victim was beaten with several shots and shot, but survived to pretend dead and get help after the criminals’ escape.
In retaliation, according to police, members of the TCP ambushed two other men in the locality known as Vila da Miséria. The attack culminated in a double homicide committed on the viaduct of the same neighborhood, also in Medom.
The motivation, according to the investigations, would be the suspicion that the victims would be conspiring with the CV to eliminate rivals and assume drug sales points in the region.
According to police, investigations continue and new arrests are not discarded.
