The Civil Police of Rio Grande do Sul reported this Thursday (28) in a press conference that it carried out the largest seizure in the history of crack in the state. 123 kilos of crack and 59 kilos of cocaine were found in the municipality of Montenegro.
Police officers explained this Thursday that the crack seizure was the largest ever recorded in Rio Grande do Sul. The drug was found on Wednesday (27) hidden in a rice truck that was intercepted by police officers on RS-287, km 10, in Montenegro.
According to the Civil Police, the drugs were destined for Porto Alegre and the Metropolitan Region.
The police chief, delegate Fernando Sodré, highlighted the importance of the PC's investigative work, using modern intelligence tools. Investigations continue to identify other members of the criminal association.
Before the seizure carried out this week, the previous records had been recorded in March 2023 and April 2023, when 57 kilos and 96 kilos of crack were seized respectively.
