Rio Grande do Sul government technology systems are affected by floods

Due to flooding caused by the shutdown of pump rooms near the Cuias roundabout, in Porto Alegre, the state's electrical panel and data center were shut down this Monday (6) by the Information and Communication Technology Center of the State of Rio. Grande do Sul (PROCERGS).

According to Procergs, the water advanced quickly, reaching the electrical panel, power supplies and generators, making the shutdown inevitable. This process took some time until all services became unavailable.

Websites such as those of the Military Police, the State Government and the Civil Police were affected and were offline. The systems remain unstable at the time of publication.

Procergs stated that the objective was to preserve the installed infrastructure and allow the return of services without loss of data. He also said that they are working to restore normal conditions as quickly as possible.

Pump room shutdown

Pump house 16, located near Rótula das Cuias, in Porto Alegre, had its electricity turned off by CEEE Equatorial for security measures, according to a statement issued by Porto Alegre City Hall, this Monday (6).

The action caused flooding in the region, which, according to Procergs, was a fundamental factor in the shutdown of the Datacenter.

According to the mayor of Porto Alegre, Sebastião Melo, the region was completely flooded. Melo recommended that residents seek safe areas and avoid staying on the ground floors of residences.
