Rio Grande do Sul is on severe rain alert this week

Rio Grande do Sul is on severe alert for rain during this week. The information was released this Thursday (08), by the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet).

According to Inmet, the most affected regions should be missions, campaign, center and southeast of the state. Storms can also reach the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre.

The Civil Defense of Rio Grande do Sul informs that the rains can reach 300 mm in the west of the state, and between 100 mm and 200 mm in other regions, with risk of causing storms, which may give rise to micro explosions and tornadoes.

Intense rains are already affecting part of the southern region of the country, especially the municipalities of Quaraí and Jaguarão, which recorded volumes of 52.6 mm and 44.6 mm, in the last 24 hours.

The thunderstorms are the result of the performance of a hot and humid air mass, with the combination of a cold front.

Civil Defense guides:

  • Do not cross flooded or flooded areas, on foot or even by car
  • People who live in slope areas should observe slit signs on walls or land, and even noises inside your home
