Rio Grande do Sul: more than 16 thousand people are affected by new floods

The cold front that has hit Rio Grande do Sul since last Saturday (21) is responsible for heavy rains and storms, which have already affected 48 municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul. According to Civil Defense, so far 111 people homeless and 149 displaced with a total of 16,166 affected .

The central part of the state is the most affected, this includes the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre, the central area and goes to the west and northwest of Rio Grande do Sul.

Due to the rains that have been plaguing Rio Grande do Sul since the beginning of the week, Civil Defense has already issued 57 alerts by the end of this Thursday morning (26) .

Heavy rains raised the level of Guaíba. MetSul, however, says that overflowing the lake in areas of Porto Alegre is out of the question. The islands require attention, but the risk is not high.

The forecast is that the system will decrease in the southern part of the state in the coming days and the northern part will begin to concentrate more rain and storms with forecasts of gusts of wind and hail.

From Friday (27), the cold front moves to Santa Catarina, but with the possibility of light rain in Rio Grande do Sul.
