Rio Grande do Sul recorded more than 130 thousand rays in three days

Rio Grande do Sul registered 134,253 electrical discharges in the solo cloud, between Wednesday (7) and the late afternoon of Friday (9). This type of radius directly hits the soil, according to Climatempo. The state faced a sequence of intense storms these days.

Thursday (8) was the day with the largest number of rays, with the record of 105,271 electrical discharges. The day before, on Wednesday (7), there were 4,006 rays, and by 17h this Friday (9) had already been accounted for 24,976 electrical discharges.

The incidence of electrified storms in the region is the result of atmospheric conditions. A cold front hits Rio Grande do Sul, with high humidity and presence of heat.

The rains have also been intense. In Cachoeira do Sul (RS) the accumulated exceed 240 mm in just three days. The cities of how Faxinal do Soturno, Alegrete, Santa Maria and São Borja also recorded volumes above 150 mm.

Storms have been accompanied by gusts that exceeded 90 km/h. In Alegrete (RS), the gusts reached 93.2 km/h. Already in Rio Pardo (RS), the winds reached 77 km/h.
