RIO JUSTICE MAKES OVER 1,400 CRIME AUDITING AGAINST WOMEN

The court of Rio holds until this Friday (14) 1,449 hearings and 15 sessions of trial of crimes against women, all involving gender violence. The action is from the State Coordination of Women in Situation of Domestic and Family Violence (COEM).

By prioritizing these processes, the TJRJ seeks to strengthen the court’s actions in the guarantee of women’s rights and protection and give victims, their families and society, a faster response in the month in which International Women’s Day is celebrated (March 8).

According to data from the Panorama of Violence against Women, from the Institute of Public Security (ISP), per day, 22 women are victims of violence throughout the state.

The Justice for Peace Program at Home is an initiative of the National Council of Justice (CNJ) and involves the courts across the country, to broaden the effectiveness of the Maria da Penha Law and promote a more fair and safer society.

The TJRJ State Women’s State Coordination of Women’s Violence is mostly formed by women – 13 of the 16 members are magistrates – and participates with various projects and actions to improve judiciary policies in combating violence against women.

For Coem’s special project coordinator, Judge Camila Rocha Guerin, Justice for Peace at home is more than a concentration of efforts to accelerate the progress of domestic violence processes. “The program is more than a concentration of efforts to speed up processes related to domestic violence. It is an opportunity for interinstitutional communication, improvements in care and procedural flows, reflection on constructive social actions and training, ”said the magistrate.
