The level of the Rio Negro, in Manaus, rose 1 meter in the last seven days. This Tuesday (28), according to the Port of Manaus, the water level is at 14.25 cm.
Since November 18th, the Rio Negro has been showing positive levels of elevation, which may indicate the beginning of the stability and recovery process.
According to the state’s latest Civil Defense bulletin, rises were also recorded in the Purus, Solimões and Amazonas river channels. The Juruá and Madeira stations showed fluctuations that are also expected in this season transition period.
The drought in Amazonas was considered the worst in 120 years. In Manaus, the Rio Negro reached the historic mark of 12.70 meters.
There were 131 consecutive days of low water until the river stabilized and flooded again. Even with the increase, all municipalities in the state remain in an emergency situation. Almost 600,000 people were directly impacted by the drought.
