The Rio-Niterói bridge continues with two interdicted lanes, towards Rio, this Tuesday (15). The bridge remained closed for more than 3 hours early Monday night (14) after a ship collided.
According to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), traffic was released towards Niterói at 21:45. The total release of traffic on the road depends on a new survey that is scheduled for this Tuesday afternoon.
According to the PRF, the inspection can only be carried out after repairs are carried out on the bridge, which should be completed around 12:00.
On Monday, the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, said on social media that the first inspection did not show significant damage to the structure of the bridge.
“The technical team inspected pillars 71, 72 and 73 and did not detect any damage to the structure (below and meso). evaluation of the support devices are indicating minor damage”, published Paes.
With traffic flowing normally, the journey on the 13-kilometer long bridge takes about 20 minutes. When returning from holidays, the journey can take two hours, according to user reports.
With the lanes blocked and the volume of cars expected for the end of the Proclamation of the Republic holiday, there is concern about the possibility of traffic jams on the road.
