Rio PM announces 24-hour occupation in Cidade de Deus

The Military Police of Rio de Janeiro announced, this Wednesday morning (03), that it will occupy Cidade de Deus, a community in Jacarepaguá, in the West Zone of Rio, for 24 hours. The operation began this morning and, according to the corporation, the objective is to combat criminal actions, remove barricades and recover stolen and cloned vehicles.

Teams from the 18th BPM (Jacarepaguá) carry out the action with support from the Special Rescue and Rescue Actions Group (GESAR) and the Dog Action Battalion (BAC).

According to the PM, a suspected drug trafficking scout was arrested while monitoring and passing on information to the criminal group responsible for organized crime in Cidade de Deus. A radio communicator was seized from him.

Additionally, around 70 kilograms of marijuana were also seized during the operation. The action had the support of sniffer dogs.

The agents also carry out work to remove several barricades inside the community, using a backhoe.

Due to the operation, the Municipal Health Department reported that the Hamilton Land Municipal Health Center and the Lourival Francisco de Oliveira Family Clinic suspended operations this Wednesday morning for the safety of professionals and users.

The José Neves Family Clinic continues to provide services to the population, but has suspended external activities carried out in the territory, such as home visits.

Due to school holidays, the Municipal Department of Education said there were no impacts.
