The Civil Police of Rio arrested, this Monday morning (22), two call girls identified as responsible for the “good night, Cinderella” scam that resulted in the death of Chilean tourist Ronald Rafael Sobarzo and injured his friend, Andreas Ignacio Orellana Puiz.
Police officers from the Special Tourism Support Office (DEAT) found Tuane Silva da Costa and Davina Cristian de Moreas Melo in Duque de Caxias, in Baixada Fluminense.
They would have applied the blow to tourists in the early hours of Sunday last week (14), in Santa Teresa, in the Central Region of Rio. The suspicion is that the men were drugged and thrown from the top of the Mirante do Rato. The fall killed Ronald and left Andres injured.
The two men were seen getting into a vehicle accompanied by the two women arrested, in Lapa, also in the Central Region, towards Santa Teresa, where the crime took place. Police are investigating possible involvement of the driver driving the car. A CNN police chief Patricia Alemany said she already had access to security camera footage.
On Friday (19), the Civil Police also heard the firefighters who rescued the two Chileans. The rescue took place at the Mirante do Rato Molhado. One of the possibilities is that Ronald and Andrés were thrown from a height of more than three meters.
Andrés Orellana Ruiz is considered a key witness in the case and will be formally heard once he is discharged. He is admitted to a private hospital in the South Zone of Rio, but his life is not in danger.
Ronald Tejeda Sobarzo was even rescued by firefighters to the Souza Aguiar Municipal Hospital, in the center of the capital of Rio de Janeiro, but, with head trauma, died last Wednesday (17).
