The Rio de Janeiro Civil Police arrested, this Wednesday (14), Márcio Pereira Andrade for the crime of execution in Cabo Frio, in the Lagos Region, in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The action was carried out by the Capital Homicide Division after images of the crime began to circulate among the population.
The incident took place on the afternoon of May 14th this year and was recorded by a security camera at a house in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro, Vargem Grande.
The images show Márcio getting out of a Peugeot vehicle on a dirt road. The victim, Carlos Alberto Nascimento Machaites, is coming in the opposite direction. He stops as soon as the criminal opens the door and points a firearm at him.
Carlos’ first reaction is to drop the garbage bag he was carrying and raise his hands above his head. He turns his back, lifting his shirt as Márcio approaches, still pointing the gun directly at the victim’s head, until he pulls the trigger a few times and Carlos instantly falls to the ground.
The entire scene lasts less than ten seconds. Márcio runs back to the car, which belongs to Phelipe Silva de Andrade. According to the investigation, Phelipe was the one driving at the time of the crime. He is on the run.
Past in drug trafficking
According to data from the Rio de Janeiro Court of Justice, Carlos Alberto, the victim, was convicted of drug trafficking and was serving his sentence in freedom. Márcio Pereira Andrade had an open warrant against him for the same crime.
Although both were linked to drug trafficking, the police did not disclose the motive for the execution.
