Rio police recover stolen Botafogo sports equipment on Avenida Brasil

The Rio Civil Police recovered, this Tuesday (17), Botafogo’s sporting equipment that had been stolen last Friday (13), on Avenida Brasil, near Penha, in the North Zone of Rio. would supply the club’s official stores.

Agents from the 42nd DP (Recreio), coordinated by chief delegate Cristiano Maia, discovered that those responsible for the crime, linked to the Comando Vermelho (CV) faction, were in the Parque União community, a community that is part of Complexo da Maré, also in the North Zone , with the intention of reselling the stolen products.

Based on this information, the police began monitoring and cross-referencing data. While trying to recover the large amount of material, the criminals noticed the arrival of the agents and fled, abandoning the products inside a stolen vehicle near the Parque União community.

The action had the support of police officers from the DRFC (Robbery and Cargo Theft Police Station) and the DRE (Narcotics Suppression Police Station). The recovered sports equipment and the abandoned vehicle were sent to the 42nd DP, as determined by chief delegate Cristiano Maia, where the usual procedures were carried out.

According to the Police, the action that recovered the cargo is part of the second phase of “Operation Tourniquet”, whose objective is to repress robberies, theft and reception of cargo and vehicles, crimes that finance the activities of criminal factions, territorial disputes and even guarantee payments to relatives of criminals, whether they are detained or free. Since September, there have been more than 260 prisoners, in addition to vehicles and cargo recovered.

At the end of last year, Botafogo also had a truck transporting club uniforms stolen by criminals. At the time, the crime occurred on Linha Amarela, another important expressway in the city, near Maré.
