The Rio de Janeiro police ruled out that the six-year-old boy Edson Davi was in a cafeteria with two unknown adults this Saturday afternoon (6), in the capital of Rio de Janeiro. The information was confirmed by CNN with delegate Márcia Helena Julião, head of the 43rd DP of Guaratiba.
According to the police, a family went to the police station to register that the child, who appears in a photo received by Edson Davi's family, is not the missing boy. It is another boy, who was with his relatives having lunch at that restaurant.
Earlier, the family of the boy who disappeared last Thursday (4) on Barra da Tijuca beach, in the West Zone of Rio, claimed to have received a photo of the boy in a snack bar in the same neighborhood, on Saturday afternoon (6 ).
A CNN he spoke with the boy's father, Edson Almeida, who stated that he believed that the child in the image was indeed his son. During the afternoon, however, the boy's family members posted on social media that the child had not yet been located.
Disappearance
The Whereabouts Discovery Department (DDPA) is investigating the case. Since Thursday, the specialist has received dozens of information about possible places where the boy could be, but none led to his whereabouts.
Images from monitoring cameras on the Barra waterfront analyzed by investigators show Edson Davi walking along the promenade unaccompanied for around 100 meters. The recording, to which CNN had access, was recorded around 4 pm on Thursday.
At one point, the boy is near the tables of a kiosk when a man, identified by police as someone who works in the region and was known to the family, approaches. They talk for a few moments and then return to the sand once again.
The DDPA and the Missing Persons Program of Disque Denúncia published posters to obtain information leading to the whereabouts of Edson Davi.
The boy was on the beach with his father, who has a tent. According to witnesses, he was playing in the sand when he disappeared. The family says the children were accompanied by another man and believe he may have been taken.
