Rio Police to file investigation into MC Kevin’s death

The Civil Police of Rio concluded the investigation and will ask the court to close the investigation into the death of singer Kevin Nascimento Bueno, MC Kevin, who fell from a hotel balcony in Barra da Tijuca, west of Rio, six months ago. The 16th Precinct, located in the same neighborhood, did not find “elements that characterize a crime”, according to a note from the Civil.

“In new statements, witnesses did not add relevant or contradictory information to what had already been found. According to investigations, the singer tried to leave the room where he was jumping over the balcony to reach the lower floor, but he lost support, lost his balance and fell,” explained the corporation.

The results of the investigation corroborate what a report by the Carlos Éboli Criminalistics Institute pointed out. Experts indicated that Kevin accidentally fell from room 502 of the hotel, with no indication that conflicts could have led to any crime at the location.

Because they involve reports of sex and betrayal, the circumstances of the MC’s death turned into a soap opera, with several versions aired initially.

Great success in São Paulo funk, MC Kevin, 23, was an inspiration to millions of fans who saw in his repertoire the representation of overcoming difficulties.

His first hit came in 2014, Prepara Novinha, in partnership with MC Pedrinho. With MC Davi, he created the funk Pra Inveja é Tchau, which got more than 200 million views.

Very active among artists, the musician from the North Zone of São Paulo participated in songs that translated the difficult daily life of the favelas, making assertive social criticisms.

One of his greatest successes as a singer is Vergonha pra Mídia, by MC Salvador da Rima, in which he preaches conscious funk together with protest rap. The sash was soon adopted by youth from the periphery.
