The city of Rio de Janeiro reached, this Tuesday (9), the mark of 90% of the adult population fully vaccinated with two or a single dose against Covid-19.

The municipal health secretary, Daniel Soranz, told the CNN that nothing changes regarding the release of masks indoors. “When the number reaches 75% of all vaccinated Cariocas, we will release the masks”.

For the epidemiologist and infectious disease specialist at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) Celso Ramos, “it is an extremely important brand. The more people vaccinated, the better the epidemiological situation. Fewer sick people, less deaths and less suffering.”

“More possibility for us to go back to being gregarious. We want a vaccine, we want to be vaccinated, we are vaccinated”, completes Celso Ramos.

Vaccination against the disease on Wednesday (10) will be aimed at the first dose for people aged 12 and over. The recap of the booster dose will be for cariocas aged 62 years or older.

Health professionals who took the second dose in Rio until May 31st and immunosuppressed patients aged 12 years and over can also take the booster dose.
