Hotel administrators attribute the demand to the scope of vaccination coverage and the requirement of proof of vaccination for access to hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions, which contributed, in a way, to reassure travelers. Most of the reservations were made by Brazilian tourists from São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Goiás and Rio Grande do Sul.
The data released by the hotels indicate that from December 30, 2021 to January 1, 2022, the most sought after neighborhoods were Ipanema and Leblon, with 95.08%, closely followed by Barra and Recreio, with 95.02% . Next came Leme and Copacabana, with 91.31%, Flamengo and Botafogo (91.27%) and Centro (88.09%). The Barra/Recreio region, on the west side, had a fireworks show at ten points, six of which in hotels.
The president of HotéisRIO, Alfredo Lopes, celebrated the results and pointed out that most of the guests who made the reservations were already vaccinated and had already been informed about the requirements for controlling the pandemic.
“This good result is the result of an intense work of dissemination and promotion, carried out in partnership with the state government, by SETUR, in all of the issuing cities for Rio de Janeiro”, highlighted Alfredo Lopes.
